SOMEDAY RETRIEVERS PURPOSE

My passion for dogs started when I was a child, but training them didn’t start until 17 years ago.

Our first choc lab was a stray that we took into our home and grew to love for 3 years. We lost her in an accident. Feeling lost without her my search was on looking for another choc. Not wanting a pup, I came across a young dog that had been trained for Field Trials that was for sale. With no intentions at the time of competing with her, when she reached the age of 4, I decided to breed her. We found the only chocolate Field Trial Champion at the time, in Woodinville Washington by the name of Mueller’s Stormy Canada. From there my desire to train hunting dogs began. I kept a pup and found a group of people who where training for field competition. I joined in on that group and 17 years later still going strong.

Today we raise up to 7 litters a year. Pups from our kennel are sold for competition, family companions, obedience, narcotics, search & rescue, explosive detection & hunting. From 5 weeks of age on we spend a tremendous amount of time socializing to be sure that we place each dog into the right environment.

Each adult dog must have hip and eye clearances to help insure each puppy will be free and clear from any hip & eye defects.

Started dogs, may range from 7 months old and up, again price is determined on how much training each dog has had to date.

We take dogs in for training from Feb 1st - Oct 31st

Our year usually ends in Oct for those interested parties, with an arranged hunting trip to Douglas Lake Ranch in BC, where we hunt ducks, geese and released pheasants

I prefer to start young dogs at 6 months of age however, we have had dogs as old as the age of 2. We charge $650.00 per month Canadian, that includes bird costs as well. To get a good start on each dog we ask that you plan on leaving your dog for no less than 3 months.

We have thousands of acres of prime training grounds to train in beautiful Kamloops BC Your dogs will be in the best environment imagined.

At 3 months of training, the dog will be force broke, obedience trained to come in, heel, and deliver to hand. Each dog goes home doing single/double retrieves (depending on each dog), responding well to the come in and sit whistle and with a strong understanding of the command, hold, fetch, drop and collar conditioned. Ducks, pigeons, chuckar & pheasants are raised on our premises for training and hunting so there is never a shortage of birds.

6 months of training the dog will have the entire above but doing double retrieves and started on hand signals for doing blind retrieves. The dog should be steady in the blind and be ready to retrieve once his name is called. We work our dogs on quartering for those upland enthusiasts and from boats in water for those of you who prefer hunting waterfowl.

We offer heated kennels that are cleaned and disinfected daily to ensure good living conditions while in our care. All dogs must have kennel cough, booster shots and rabies certificates before arrival.

Pick up to and from Kamloops airport no charge, there will be a $50.00 fee for pickup and delivery both to Vancouver International.
