These dogs in Germany
are raised for hunting upland, waterfowl, and tracking wild bore and
deer.
I was told about this
breed about a year ago and decided to look into what they were raised
for and how good a hunting companion they really were. Through my
inquiries I found hunters telling me Buttons and Daisy have their hip
clearances they were the most versatile dog on the market. They were
not as large as a lab so easy to have live indoors, highly intelligent,
extremely keen to work, fabulous with kids and love the water.
Through my research on
the internet I came upon Dave Pepe who was one of the first Americans to
import the breed. He had a wealth of information on the Deutsche
Wachtelhunds and had helped many import these dogs direct from Germany.
The Deutscher
Wachtelhund comes mainly in two colors, brown (brown ticked with white)
and solid brown. Brown/white or schimmel will produce colorations
ranging from red to dark brown, white ticking. Brown will produce
colorations ranging from red (orange, blond) to dark brown.
Due to this breed
being fairly new and very few of them available, the pups have been
limited to only hunting homes.
Someday Retrievers is
proud to offer pups for sale as soon as at the age of 2. We are
awaiting our new stud from Germany which we should have sometime this
year.
